Whittle pike is the 2nd race in the inter-club fell competition. To do well we need to get a runner in every veterans category as we get bonus points in each category and for every runner who attends. so far all i know V50 Julian V65 Nev so who else is going? At the last race there were no Lv40 or Lv45s so please try and make it.. note it is worth sharing travel as parking is limited.

DON'T FORGET. Tuesday nights training starts at Victoria Park at 6:50pm for a 7pm start on Tuesday 3rd April 2012. The beginner's initiative starts on that night too, so if you have any friends who want to start running this is the perfect time to ask them. The coaches are reviewing ideas for the summer so if you have any feedback or new ideas for consideration please get in touch with your coach, Carol Stynes or Steve Pickford.
We expect to stay at the track until mid or late October.

Hi all, there are only two cross countries left. If you want to run at Clarke gardens in the L&D championship at 11am on 19th Feb you need to register with Julian or Liz as we need to pay and pre-enter you. If you want to run in our cross country at 10am on 4th march please let Julian know. We want a strong team for this last race. We need marshals, kids for the under 10s race and course markers as well. Please let us know. Food will be at the Tennis Centre after unless the school reduce there fee. 2Pies

Can i thank Neville for organize the meeting. It was really useful. Just to summarize what we agreed, especially for those who could not make it.
The target Bob Graham relay date is Saturday 9th June. Exact Start time tbc when we have done some recces, but probably start between midnight to 2pm. Aim is 18-21hrs for the combined relay. To be in the final relay team each runner must have done 2 recces of their proposed leg by 1st May. Ideally do a reserve leg as well.
Leg 1 Rob McHarry, perhaps Karon Forster (but she is on holiday on 9th so we may need an alternative runner) Leg 2: Julian and Neil Adair Leg 3: Chris Millington & Charlie Sharpe Leg 4: Ran Mackay and Geoff Hand Leg 5: Liz, Kit, Neville and Carole Stynes (maybe all 4 will run)
Reserves: Leg 1: Neville & Mike Bate Leg 2 Geoff Hand and Ran. Leg 3 Neil Adair
Anne and Les Hewitt kindly offered to help with logistic support. We will need some more helpers for a 24 hr event. Any volunteers, partners or other Strider runners?
I hope these are a true record, please correct this if i missed anything

Brainwave Ceilidh on Friday 27th January from 18:30 (until circa 21:30-22:00)
Our Club supported charity are organising a Ceilidh at the big canteen building on the Birchwood Business park. It is £10 ticket and this includes a 2 course hot pot meal and a live Ceilidh band. [Luckily for us it is being subsidised by some of the companies on the business park.] I could easily be persuaded to go along if a few more of you fancied an evening of barn dancing. Ceilidhs can be great fun, especially if there was a group of 6 or 8 of us as we can form our own Spectrum striders square or group. Don’t worry there is a bar a bar to refresh the dancers. It is Burns Night two nights before so there will they will be reading “the famous Burns night poem” after a bagpiper pipes the haggis in. Joanne (from Brainwave) is keen that she gets some energy and enthusiasm from us (Striders) there rather than have 80 people sitting on their chairs all evening. If you want to go email me and get the money to me by Thursday 19th as I am going to Brainwave for our committee meeting that evening so I can collect the tickets for you all. Children are welcome and under age 10 cost £5. Any one for a dance?

Why would anyone want to go to Blackpool (in winter or summer)? It's a horrid place even in the middle of winter when there are no tourists! 2pies

Dear Schorchio,
i am not sure who you are as yet. If you email to Julian who has the master distribution list your name, email and phone details this can be corrected. Julian has the e-distribution list. 2pies

Dear all, can I have your comments on a proposal that Neville and I have had from Helsby and Tattenhall Runners about a 3 race interclub fell competition for 2012. Can you split your comments into: 1) about the race choices; 2) about the rules (see the attachment). The race choices are Spectrum race proposals: (so Helsby and Tattenhall to choose these) · Bull Hill Thurs 12th July (8.8km) · Whittle Pike Wed. 8th August (8.2km) Helsby race proposals: (so Spectrum and Tattenhall to choose these) · Moel Fammau Mon 27th August (Bank holiday race, 7.4km) · King John Castle Sat 22nd Sept (7.4km, may clash with Northern road relays) Tattenhall race proposals: (so Helsby and Spectrum to choose from these) · Hotfoot up Fammau Wed 20th June (5.6km) · Moel-y-Gamelin Sun 24th June (15.2km) Neville and I, in conjunction with the committee, will have to make final recommendations on the race choices and the rules. It would be great to see your collective views as i am sure there will be some widely differing opinions. Even if it comes down to why there is not a Cheshire race in the list this year! So forum please discuss at length (and make it even harder to decide)...and quickly please....NB i am hoping to meet Helsby and Tattenhall on Wednesday 4th January evening if i can. 2pies Attachments:

David and Janet are organizing their traditional recce of the Four villages half marathon. Details were in the newsletter. The target pace is suitable for runners who will run in the range 1:35 to 2:05. You can just turn-up and run but if you let David and Janet know you are coming they will wait (a bit) for you unless your name is Dave "always late" Thompson.
I am told at least all the following have signed up to run: Debbie & Geoff R, Helen C, Dave T, both the Rogers, Ian Dunbar, and Alan Brady. Apologies if I missed anyone off the list. I think there are quite a few more. We wanted to indicate to everyone that there is a good group of varying ability going already.
David Redpath will drive round and provide support and a lift if anyone struggles with injury or the full distance. Remember arrive for 9:45 at the Helsby social club car park.
2Pies on behalf of David and Janet (David please correct any omissions/errors by a reply)
PS if there is any interest in a quicker group (<1:35) running the route please let me know. If we did i would suggest that we start at 9am and meet at 8:45 that way we wont get tangled up with the main group. NB there is no quicker group running as yet.

Good news. I hear from Tattenhall that Chris Morgan from Chester Tri Club is planning or taking over the Christleton 5k so it will be on this year after all. He has volunteered to sort out all the c**p with the council safety advisory group. I will try and find out the date. 2Pies

This is probably my favourite race. In 2012 it will the 19th year on the trot which i have entered and run the race. I have opted to enter on line. Why not do the same and lets get a huge contingent of Striders there?
