Has anyone used devices like the "PowerBreathe" breathing trainer and had any results? I read an article on this recently, which was promoting it as a good add-on to running training. (Article was probably paid for to advertise it). Just interested to find out if they work and worth the time.

Hitting a PB for half-marathon in Liverpool was very good. As it was just over the 90min mark it's spurred me on to try for better, rather than thinking that it's all down hill from here.

I'll be there. Just to give Mo Farah some competition (choke, choke).

There must be lots of photos of Striders (and friends) in action on various social sites. I found Dave Pinnington's photos on Flickr - I think he's a professional snapper and tends to visit all the local NW and Liverpool races. His photostream is at: www.flickr.com/photos/davepinno/sets/Most recent set is of the Clarke Gardens XC. Lots of Striders are pictured, but not many of them are smiling for the camera. Wonder why? Anyone else know of good places to see photos from local races? I'm still looking for 1 of me looking like an athlete.

I've been reading Charlie Brooker's articles for a while and, although I guess he's not to everyone's taste (raving flights of fantasy, firmly anti-establishment etc) he makes me chortle. Anyway, a week ago he confessed that he'd started running and his piece rang a few chords about those early, unfit days as a newbie. See what you think... www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/nov/06/charlie-brooker-becomes-a-runner
