First off I think we have lost our Forum to Spectrum on Facebook. The Facebook page was pretty well defunct untill we introduced the Forum, then suddenly people are posting on Spectrum's Facebook page and not on the forum. Well Kenny its great to hear that you are on the way to recovery and I am sure its nice to be running again. Keep positive and keep plugging away.

Chris I did think that there would be plenty of Striders who didn't know Ste's history. He would the last person to tell you, he is a very modest guy. He may well tell me off for posting this.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKFZ7F7EWyU&feature=shareGreat newish( I think) HD video of the final in Edinburgh's Meadowbank stadium, where I did a lap of last year at the start of the half Marathon. My lap was slightly slower the Steve's laps. A must watch for all striders who haven't seen it.

The article on compression socks was on page 70 of the spring 2011 edition of the Fellrunner. It by Denise Park and it was really in depth as you would expect from Denise.

I bought a few pairs of compression socks last year. I tried them because I suffer from lower leg soreness after races. There was a good piece about them in the Fellrunner magazine last year. The main points were that they speed up your recovery and the fit had to be spot on if they were to be of any use. I think like most things, buy the best you can afford. Another plus is they keep your legs clean in XC.

Difficult to pick a personal highlight of this year for me as I was lucky enough to have an injury free run throughout the whole summer, which as we all know is the key to racing well. I think the Lake Vyrnwy half marathon in September stands out for me because it far exceeded my expectations .A strange race in which I lost my garmin signal early in the race and gave up on it altogether thereafter .I just ran to how I felt but by three miles I thought this is not my day, I was hurting and the pace felt slow, my mind was drifting to another shot later in the month maybe. It was only when I got to the nine mile point and I asked another runner (who seemed to be cruising) what pace were we running at and he said 7.20-7.25 that I realised the possibilities and I pushed on to the finish. It was the the fastest half I have done since the 1990's so I was over the moon and slightly shocked.
