Hi Folks, lets gets some more Striders running the Sefton park cross country on 26th November. Main race at 14:00 (9.8km). Note ladies can run the 8.1km ladies race at 13:20 or the open race as the ladies can count in the L&D league race. We have enough guys to have a team already, see list below, so the ladies can chose their race distance.
Men running so far 12: Julian, Colin Martin, Graham Houghton, Chris Millington, Neil Crompton, Neil Garnett, Andy Garnett, Tim Murphy, Graham Driver, Alan Peers, Ken Black, Les Hewitt
Ladies Running so far 2: Anne Hewitt, Marian Martin
I will update this list if we get some more volunteers...so email me or post here

I "enjoyed" standing in the freezing cold last year, watching Anne run round. So I thought why should she have all the fun, and decided to run this year! I hope I finish before dark...

I'll be there. Just to give Mo Farah some competition (choke, choke).

Is there likely to be a meeting point / time for collecting our number / chip?

Annoyingly, The Gnome has had a hamstring injury and now a cold on top of that. Not sure whether I'll be running, spectating or staying at home.
I've tried to get some more info about arrangements. Watch this space or your e-mails.
Update: Have just spoken to 2pies (Julian). Someone needs to go a little early and collect our club numbers from the Liverpool & District League caravan somewhere near the finish. If you want to volunteer, contact Julian. If we don't have a volunteer, he will arrange to go early.

His Gnomeliness is decidedly rough this morning so I'm a "no show" for Sefton Park. The hamstring seems fine but the cold is much worse. Good luck to all of you Striders who are running...

What a finish to the Vet men xc/mt champs for 2010/11. Chris Millington needed to beat Colin Martin to tie the champs. Colin tells me that he did just that, by "half a stride". Down to the last stride of the last race of the season!
The other champions are Graham Houghton, Liz Whtifield and a tie for vet ladies between Karon Forster & Caroline Hemming.
Final standings for the xc/mt champs will (hopefully) be on the Striders web site later today, Sunday.

Well done to all the winners - it must have been exciting to watch Sefton (Both recorded the same time according to the official results)
Why does the Fell champs has a bonus of 1point for every additional race, but the others don't?

A lot of these things are historical. At one time, in the vets you got a 1 point bonus for every age group you went up but this was changed at some point. 2pies might remember the detail...
When I can get round to it, I'm intending to do a bit of experimenting with a possbile tweaking of the scoring system for fell & xc/mt champs, as Lazarus was suggesting at the AGM. As I shift this cold I might feel like doing this soon! Watch this space...
