Oh I think so. What a grand day out.
Thanks to Mike Bate for all the words of advice - most of which we managed to ignore! Must try and do better next time.
After doing leg1 the enormity of the whole round is really starting to sink in. Game on!

Yeah my legs are just settling down now(doms!) but it was great fun. We've got lots of room for improvement when it comes to navigation, but it's a start.

Definitely need to get teams reckying legs and obviously need a crystal clear understanding of where teams start and stop. I am going to get the Harveys BG map www.peteblandsports.co.uk/products/harvey-bob-graham-round-map.htmNeed to fix a start time so we know which legs wil be in the dark. It may not be the most important point but if we aimed for an evening finish the pubs will be open!

Can i thank Neville for organize the meeting. It was really useful. Just to summarize what we agreed, especially for those who could not make it.
The target Bob Graham relay date is Saturday 9th June. Exact Start time tbc when we have done some recces, but probably start between midnight to 2pm. Aim is 18-21hrs for the combined relay. To be in the final relay team each runner must have done 2 recces of their proposed leg by 1st May. Ideally do a reserve leg as well.
Leg 1 Rob McHarry, perhaps Karon Forster (but she is on holiday on 9th so we may need an alternative runner) Leg 2: Julian and Neil Adair Leg 3: Chris Millington & Charlie Sharpe Leg 4: Ran Mackay and Geoff Hand Leg 5: Liz, Kit, Neville and Carole Stynes (maybe all 4 will run)
Reserves: Leg 1: Neville & Mike Bate Leg 2 Geoff Hand and Ran. Leg 3 Neil Adair
Anne and Les Hewitt kindly offered to help with logistic support. We will need some more helpers for a 24 hr event. Any volunteers, partners or other Strider runners?
I hope these are a true record, please correct this if i missed anything

I'm afraid neither myself nor Karon will be able to make 9th June.

One thing 2pies missed out was the date of the next meeting. It's at Anne & Les' house at 8:30pm on Tue 21-Feb. I think Neville will be sending out a reminder soon!

I'm also planning to run leg 5 on the BGR relay (Anne Hewitt). Liz & Kit are to blame .

I took a few notes during the meeting at Anne & Les Hewitt's house on Tuesday 21-Feb-2012. If I've missed out anything or got anything wrong, please feel free to post a correction.
The projected date of 9-Jun-2012 is the Saturday immediately following the Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday so the Lakes will probably be very busy. The general view was to stick with this date. If anyone is planning to stay up there for a few days, it would be best to book accommodation or campsites sooner rather than later as it will be one of the peak holiday weeks of the year.
To correct a minor typo in Julian's notes from the first meeting, start time is to be confirmed but will be between 12 midnight and 2am (not 2pm!).
Special thanks to Mike Bate sharing his detailed knowledge of the Round. One specific was a recommendation to eat, drink & navigate on the run. If you stop for a few mins on each top for a drink and to work out where to go next, you'll lose hours on the whole round. Mike also went through places to pick up water from streams on the round.
From Ran: please make a note of the specific grid reference for each change-over point so there is no confusion and outgoing runners don't end up waiting in the wrong place! These can be recorded when you do your recce.
From Nev: mobile phone reception is poor or non-existent in some places. This is another thing to check on your recce. Note down whether you get a signal on a particular network, especially at the changeover points.
The view for transport seemed to be to let each pair organise their own transport to the start of their leg and from the finish of their leg e.g. either have one car & a non-running driver or have two cars & leave one at the finish of the leg. The exception was the end of leg 3/start of leg 4 in Wasdale - this is a long way to get to by road. Les is likely to be doing support so can probably collect leg 3 runners after they have finished and deliver leg 4 runners to their start.
Once we've done the recces, we need a detailed plan with approximate timing for each leg and agreed specific grid references for changeover points.
There was general agreement to use this forum to keep in touch and confirm what recces you have planned and what you have done. Please bear in mind that this forum is not closed - it is visible to everyone on the internet, so it is best to leave out personal info (e.g telephone numbers).
Those attending were: Mike Bate, Neville Griffiths, Liz & Kit Whitfield, Chris Millington, Ran Mackay, Ian Pudge, Geoff Hand, Rob McHarry, Charlie Sharpe and Anne & Les Hewitt.
Many thanks to Anne for the home-made biscuits, scones and cake!
Regards, Les.

I have reccied leg 3 kind of.... Planned to go and knock out a big section of the lakeland 100 route although some minor issues such as bus times interfered! So..... Had an easy pacedday up in the lakes instead, parked in langdale ran upto stickle tarn then straight lined up sergeant man and on to high raise. From there hit all the peaks on the list in order except bowfell and dropped down almost to wasdale before contouring around and taking a straight line up scafell and then made my way back to langdale via the esk valley for a bit of a look around. Had very little visibility and when it went dark the cloud also seemed to thicken, there is a bit here.... charlie-sharpe.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html. It's all runnable really apart from a wee rocky section here and there like broad crag's top!

Kit and I did a recci of leg 5 yesterday. We walked/ran it but only went from Honnister to Little Town (don't think we need to recci the road secton yet). Had a great time apart from a wet scramble down Robinson! Liz
